Going on a date is exhilarating! But it can also be a little bit daunting. So why not go dating as a group?
In Japan, the social practice of group dating is common and has been going on for a while. Friends who have other single friends, ask them all along on a group blind date. Generally it’s over lunch or dinner and the purpose is to increase social circles and possibly make long term relationships from the meeting. Read more about it here – it’s called a Gokon or a Compa party. There are some strict social conventions about how the night unfolds, but it can, by this report, get rather raucous!
After meeting up in a Gokon, there is often a second round of meet ups with the same people, so that they can all get to know each other better.
Speed dating also brings a big group of people together. Cityswoon also matches only a selection of people together in a party sort of vibe. It’s much like a group date, but way bigger!
1/ The obvious benefit is that you can meet lots of new single people!
2/ The pressure is much less than a one-to-one meeting. Whilst you will eventually need to meet up one-to-one with a date to see if there really is a worthwhile connection between you both, meeting in groups is easier and less stressful.
3/ Some singles like the safety aspect of meeting in groups.
4/ Getting acquainted without the ‘dating atmosphere’ allows you to be yourself and be seen in the context of your friends.
But I guess one of the problems with a gokon/compa party is that you only have a limited number of single friends of the opposite sex who also have other single friends…after all, the whole point is trying to meet more singles and you already know your single friends right!
So, what if you could go to a website and be matched up with other singles who specifically match your type and go on a date you all agreed to? What if you could invite your single friends along on every date! Well, at CitySwoon.com that’s what we do: group dating tailored specifically for you.
